Terms of use for MakeItSimple and MIS-Forums
This page states the "Terms and Conditions" under which you may use the MakeItSimple (MIS) network sites. Please read this page carefully, if you do not accept the terms and conditions stated here, do not use our web sites and services. By using this web site or any other MIS network web sites, you are indicating your acceptance to be bound by the following stated terms and conditions. The terms "participant", "visitor", "user", and "reader" as used herein refer to all individuals and/or entities accessing our web sites for any reason. The terms "MakeItSimple", "MIS-Forums", "MIS", "Site", and "MIS Network" as used herein refer to the site owner including all current and past staff members.
Participants of the MIS Message Boards (http://www.mis-forums.com/vbbs/) must register for full use of this service (free of charge) in order to post messages, although they need not register to view the site. During registration, the visitor is required to supply a user name, password, and valid e-mail address. By registering at MIS Message Boards, you gain full access to our message boards (discussion forums) where you can take advantage of profile personalization, e-mail notification of new messages, and much more.
Please remember that any information disclosed in our message board and chat areas becomes public information and you should exercise caution when deciding to disclose your personal information.
Considering the real-time nature of the message boards, it is impossible for us to review messages or confirm the validity of information posted. Please remember that we do not actively monitor the contents of posted messages and are not responsible for any messages posted.
We do not vouch for or warrant the accuracy, completeness or usefulness of any message, and are not responsible for the contents of any message. The messages express the views of the author of the message, not necessarily the views of MIS or any entity associated with MIS.
Any user who feels that a posted message is objectionable is encouraged to contact us immediately by e-mail. We have the ability to remove objectionable messages and we will make every effort to do so, within a reasonable period, if *we* determine that removal is necessary. This is a manual process, however, so please realize that we may not be able to remove or edit particular messages immediately.
You agree, through your use of our message board service, that you will not use it to post any material which is knowingly false and/or defamatory, inaccurate, abusive, vulgar, hateful, harassing, obscene, profane, sexually oriented, threatening, invasive of a person's privacy, or otherwise violate any laws. You agree not to post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or by MIS.
Although MIS does not and cannot review the messages posted, and is not responsible for the content of any of these messages, we reserve the right to delete *any* message for *any* or *no* reason whatsoever. You remain solely responsible for the content of your messages, and you agree to indemnify and hold harmless MIS, MIS staff, and their agents with respect to any claim based upon transmission of your message(s). We at MIS also reserve the right to reveal your identity (or whatever information we know about you) in case of a complaint or legal action arising from any message posted by you.
USENET is like a giant public bulletin board spanning many servers around the internet. It was started in 1979 by Steve Bellovin, Jim Ellis, Tom Truscott, and Steve Daniel at Duke University. There are thousands of newsgroups available and all are neatly organized in a hierarchical tree. MIS-Forums has mirrored several branches of newsgroups related to Digital Photography and Computer Hardware.
Most newsgroups have their own FAQ. If so, you will probably find it at the Internet FAQ Archives. You are advised to read these FAQs before posting to any newsgroup. Newsgroup regulars are a 'funny lot' and it would be wise to read through past messages to ensure your question has not already been answered. Asking a question that is in the FAQ is a sure way of getting 'flamed'.
Newsgroup members are also very passionate about fighting SPAM. If a message is even remotely 'self promoting' or commercial oriented, you will likely be reported to your ISP for SPAMMING. Posting via the MIS-Forums will not hide your identity! You will be reported.
We have ZERO (0) tolerance for SPAM. SPAMMERS, and/or FLOODERS. Posting is a privilege, not a right, if you post SPAM and or FLOOD any group or message forum, your account and/or your posting privileges will be revoked WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING
What is SPAM? it is any post(s) that is unwanted, in the group it was posted to, in short if a group has a FAQ against commercial ads, and you post a commercial ad(s), on topic or not, and you are reported, you are SPAMMING. What is FLOODING? it is the act of filling a group(s), with unwanted posts that are on, or off topic, pushing your point, freedom of speech is important, but not to the point of damaging any person, and or group to prove your point of view. If your posting access is disabled, it will remain so indefinitely.
There is an option in your profile settings that allows you to fill in your 'Public Email Address'. If this is completed, that is the email that will be entered in the header of any *USENET* posts you send. If the field is left blank, NO personal email address is sent out with your post. Obviously this will also mean you will not get any email responses to your posts. It is quite common for newsgroup readers to email an answer rather than post a reply, so it is probably a good idea to specify a public address if you want to get the most out of usenet.
Be aware that usenet is a 'text only' environment. Please do not try to use any HTML or vB code in your posts. This will result in unreadable posts on USENET, unhappy newsgroup readers, and your right to post to USENET revoked. Note: There is an exception to this rule with quotations. When you reply to a USENET post the original text is enclosed in QUOTE /QUOTE tags. These are safe to use and will be automatically converted to usenet style quotes prior to sending. You may use multiple pairs of QUOTE tags in a post to allow you to reply to different sections of the same message.
A visitor can choose to electronically forward a forum thread or news story to someone else by clicking the appropriate link of that page. The visitor must provide their valid e-mail address, as well as that of the recipient. This information is used only in the case of transmission errors and, of course, to let the recipient know who sent the story. The information is not used for any other purpose.
MIS web sites are intended for a general adult audience. We discourage participation of younger visitors without their parents' consent. We strongly recommend that visitors 13 and under refrain from offering any personal information in the message boards themselves, or any other areas of the sites, and we encourage parents to stay involved in the online life of their children.
MIS is prohibited from conditioning a child's participation in an activity on the child's disclosing more personal information than is reasonably necessary to participate in such activity.
Parents can review and request deletion of their child's personal information if any exists, and can refuse to permit further collection or use of their child's information, if any exists. In order to request such a review, to revoke previously offered parental consent, or to express any concerns regarding a child's privacy on our web site, please send a signed written request to: Privacy@makeitsimple.com
