Review by: Rob "RJCombo" Garret    Published: May 24, 2000

Just a couple months after the release of their first-born space combat SIM Allegiance, Microsoft has already published another! Only this time, they got the veteran experts of the genre on their roster. Welcome to StarLancer.

NOX Review

Yes, we know of your woes. Diablo II is STILL not on the shelves. But wait, there may be another game to satiate your needs for Action-RPG madness. Can NOX fill the gap?

Allegiance Review

Review by: Rob "RJCombo" Garret    Published: Apr 19, 2000

Plain and simple... Allegiance ROCKS. Hopefully, players who aren't normally drawn to space-sims or real-time strategy will give the game a chance. They won't regret it. Allegiance is the kind of game that will have you barking taunts (and curses) at your monitor. That's always the mark of immersion, I say.

Freespace 2 Review

Review by: Richard "KZ" Knight    Published: Jan 31, 2000

With Freespace 2, Volition has finally shed the "Descent" moniker that they needed to propel the first game to success. The result? A game that uses every shred of your system to make the finest space flight game ever made.

Quake III Arena vs. Unreal Tournament Review

Ahhh... the endless debate. The showdown. The SuperBowl of the First Person Shooter genre. Quake III Arena meets Unreal Tournament.

Unreal Tournament Review

Review by: Jeremy Larson    Published: Jan 12, 2000

The first person shooter genre has been a little stale the past few months, so it is good for some change. It seems like squad based teamplay games ruled the roost for a while, also one hit one kill games were popular. Nothing is as satisfying as a fast paced, high adrenaline, take 10 shots and live First Person Shooter.

Quake III Arena Review

Review by: Richard "KZ" Knight    Published: Dec 13, 1999

After the metamorphosis of the Trinity project and the blockbuster PCGamer introduction to Quake III, every member of the gaming media was sure of only one thing: Quake III: Arena (Q3A) would be the benchmark title to determine whether multiplayer-only gaming was for the masses.

Although Racer is a bit on the slim side, its more than enough to feed fans of the genre and typical Star Wars fans alike.

X-Wing Alliance Review

LucasArts and Totally Games did their homework this time though, and managed to come up with a real gem. It's everything TIE Fighter was along with multiplayer game play that beats out XvT.

StarCraft: Broodwar Review

Review by: Richard "KZ" Knight    Published: May 6, 1999

When December 1998 finally came around, gamers were pretty enthusiastic. Brood War was easily the most anticipated Expansion Pack ever released for game. Initial shipments fell well short of expectations, and only now are there copies on shelves. Is the game worth your money? Absolutely.

X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter Review

Review by: Richard "KZ" Knight    Published: Mar 14, 1999

Gamers were understandably excited when LucasArts and Totally games announced X-Wing Vs. TIE Fighter. The big multi-page spread in PC Gamer showed all sorts of exciting dogfights with textured starships - something they could not do for the previous two games in the series. Unfortunately, the turn towards multiplayer combat was a huge loss for gamers everywhere.
