Its a pretty simple shoot-and-survive mission. Good gunnery skills will keep you
alive.
There isn't much else to do besides board the mission craft early on. As is
usually the case, you need to bring shields to full recharge, and man the top (first) gun
turret. The mercenary fighters will tend to attack from the side extremes of the
port, so simply line yourself up, fire blindly, and use the r
button to keep tabs on who intends to fire at you.
When Emkay lands you in an Imperial target yard, dump lasers, use auto target, and try
to outmaneuver the enemy fighters until a new hyperspace buoy arrives. There are no
bonuses for mopping up the fleet.
The second boarding operation (with the platform) ends up with the same situation as
before - fighters come to attack. Luckily the IRDs are pretty fragile, so you should
be able to get in some good kills.
From there, the mission is smooth sailing. Deal with the Starfighters and head
home. Mission results are dealt with immediately in Mission 3: Raid Mercenary Base.
